Our School Values - Kaitiakitanga

CATHIE ZELAS —

During terms 1 and 2, the major teaching focus across the school for PB4L has been unpacking our new school values and teaching the expected behaviours for the "all settings" column of our Halswell School Behaviour Matrix.

In Term 3 and 4 we are explicitly teaching what our values look like across the other settings in our school e.g. the grounds, eating times, bathrooms etc.

This week and next our focus is on what Kaitiakitanga looks like in the school grounds. We expect Halswell students to:

  • Pick up rubbish
  • Stay on the courts when it is wet
  • Return play equipment

You can support at home by:

  • encouraging your child to care for your home environment by picking up rubbish, putting away toys etc
  • modelling picking up rubbish when you are out in the community with your children
  • watch A Whale's Tale and Climate Crisis - stop littering and discuss them with your children
