Find out what is coming up this term in our library, including Book Week and Book Fair

Book Week - Week 3

In Week 3 we will be celebrating Book Week across the school.  There will be book-related activities happening in learning centres and lots of activities and competitions happening in our library. Here are just some of the things we have planned:

  • Create a cool place to read in your learning centre. Each T group that enters goes into the draw for a prize - winning end gets 15 minutes bonus play

  • Book Character Election - vote for your favourite character candidate to be Prime Minister

  • Author Elissa Weissman visiting Year 7/8

  • Painted rock hunt - find a book character rock around the school to collect a prize

  • Lots of books being read my staff and special guests

  • Book Character Dress-up Day - come dressed as your favourite book character

Book Drive for Cholmondeley Children's Centre

As part of our Book Week we are going to hold a Book Drive to gather books to donate to Cholmondeley Children's Centre.  If you have any children's books that are in good condition and you no longer need, please donate them to our Book Drive.  There will be some large boxes in our library to add donations to.  Once we have gathered the books they will be sorted and delivered to Cholmondeley.  These books will then be free to any children who come to stay at Cholmondeley.

You can donate any time throughout Book Week. Just drop any books into the library donation boxes.

Scholastic Book Fair - Monday 2 November to Friday 6 November

Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming up in Week 4 of this term. This is a great chance to come and buy some books for your children, while supporting our school library at the same time. There are books from as little as $5 as well as posters and stationery items, like pens, pencils and erasers.

During Book Week your children may come home with a wishlist. This means that they have had a chance to visit the Book Fair with their class and have seen some things that they would like to buy.  There is no pressure to purchase anything but these wishlists can help to show you what your children have seen at the Book Fair.  There is a space on the back to put your credit card details if you would like to purchase something but aren't able to come in to the Book Fair.

The Book Fair will be open at these times:

Monday 2 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Tuesday 3 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Wednesday 4 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Thursday 5 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Friday 6 November 8:30-9:00 (no afternoon session on this day)

There will be a separate desk for buying stationery items such as pens, pencils and rubbers for this Book Fair. All stationery items are $2 each and we will only be taking cash for these. All other purchases can go through the main desk, with cash, EFTPOS and credit card options available.

Book Fair Family Night - Wednesday 4 November

There will also be an extra chance to purchase from the Book Fair on Wednesday 4 November between 6:30pm-7:30pm. We will have a Family Night where I will share some of the wonderful books in the Book Fair from 6:30-7:00pm and the Book Fair will be open for purchasing.
