On Thursday 11th of February, all of our Year 5-8 students participated in the Halswell School Swimming Sports at either Jellie Park or Halswell Pool. It was a fantastic day filled with lots of smiles and positive participation. The Jellie Park results are below. A special mention to the Year 8 relay team (Julia, Arrah, George, Isaiah) who beat the staff relay team.

Jellie Park summary 

On Thursday 11 of February half of the Year 5-8 students competed at Jellie Park. I did all of the races two lengths, but the best race of all was the relay against the teachers. In my relay group, there were four of us: Austin, Isaiah, Arrah and Julia (me). First went Austin, he got ahead of some of the other kids but the teachers were faster. Next was Isaiah, he was very fast and got ahead of the teachers. Then Arrah went and she got a few meters ahead of everyone, and then I went. The others had gotten so far ahead of the teachers that my swim was easy, and I touched the wall before anyone. Everyone who went to the competitive swimming sports did an amazing job, and it was a very successful event!

Halswell Pool 

On Thursday the Year 5 to 8 did swimming sports half of them went to Halswell like me. My first event was one width freestyle. I didn't do too well but had some fun, next I had one width backstroke I think I got last but I didn't care and went for the next event two width freestyle I started to get a bit tired on the way back but made it before three other people. The next event I participated in was my best event. One width Breaststroke I Had a terrible start but made up for it right as I realized I was losing and went full speed and ended up getting second. After that, we had a few funny races but I didn't participate as I was exhausted from the previous races. After that, we headed back to school and that was the end of swimming sports.
