Book Week and Book Fair

Next week we will be celebrating our school Book Week. This will be a celebration of books and reading across the whole school. We are having a book character dress-up day on Friday 8 November with a book focus to our assembly that day.  Parents and family are welcome to come along to this assembly and see all of the children in their costumes.  As part of Book Week, we will be holding our Scholastic Book Fair in the library. This is a great chance to come and buy some books for your children, while supporting our school library at the same time.

The Book Fair will be open at these times:

Monday 4 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Tuesday 5 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Wednesday 6 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Thursday 7 November 8:30-9:00 and 3:00-3:30

Friday 8 November 8:30-9:00 (no afternoon session on this day)

There will also be an extra chance to purchase from the Book Fair on Tuesday 5 November between 6:30pm-7:30pm. This is the perfect time to pop in and get some Christmas presents.

There will be a separate desk for buying stationery items such as pens, pencils and rubbers for this Book Fair.  All stationery items are $2 each and we will only be taking cash for these.  All other purchases can go through the main desk, with cash, EFTPOS and credit card options available.

Comics Week in the library

We celebrated a fantastic Comics Week in the library last week, with heaps of kids trying the daily challenges and creating a 2-page comic for the competition.  It's so great to see all of the creative talent in our school, from amazing artwork to funny stories.  Our overall winners for the competition were Brooke Ifield and Matthew Jiang whose comics blew me away.  It was really hard to choose just two winners so there were also 5 runners-up.

Hell Pizza Wheels

There is still time for children to complete more Hell Pizza Wheels.  The promotion runs through until 3 December so if your children have been reading lots of books lately make sure they grab a Hell Pizza Wheel from our library.  All they have to do is read 7 books, get their Pizza Wheel signed by a parent or teacher, then bring it in to the library for me to click and stamp it.  They can then take their completed Pizza Wheel to any Hell Pizza store to redeem their free kids pizza.
