Izaak and his family were at the Kartsport Hawkes Bay track on Thursday and Friday practicing prior to the race event on Saturday 14th July. Race day consisted of an official tuning run, 4 heats and a final. The heats were predetermined random grids, followed by the final with the grid positioning based on lowest points from the heats. Following the final, the worst race result for each driver was excluded and the winner determined by lowest points from the remaining 4 best races.

The Cadet ROK class was very tight with majority of the drivers separated by a few 10ths of a second per lap. It was extremely hard fought with competitive and skilful driving by the country's best junior drivers. Representing Halswell Primary School, Izaak managed to finish with a proud podium 6th place. There were 21 drivers in his division.
