Canterbury Basketball Tournament
Our basketball competitors tell us about how they went in the Canterbury Tournament.
Years 7 & 8 Team
On the 2nd of August, we played in the Canterbury Basketball Tournament at Mainpower Stadium in Rangiora and we did really well. We had some really close and tough games. Our first game was against Avonhead and we won by one point 15 -14. It was a very close game. Our second game was against St Teresa’s and we won 14-8. The third pool game was against St Martins and we won 14-8. Next were the last two games in our pool. We played Ashgrove School and lost that game but the other game went our way so we topped our pool. We made it to the semis but lost 18 - 8 to Kaiapoi North. That meant we were playing our last game for third and fourth. It was against Te Waka Unua but sadly we lost that 16-12. At the end of the day, we had come 4th out of Canterbury, so we were really pleased with that. Overall we had an amazing day and enjoyed playing everyone from different teams!

Years 5 & 6 Team
On Wednesday 9th August we went with Ms Thomas to the Canterbury Basketball Competition. We were all feeling a bit nervous on the way but that didn't stop us from competing. When we got there, we went over a briefing on what to do and what not to do. In the first round, we had a bye which we were disappointed about. We lost our first game but we kept on trying. After a couple more games we ended up coming 4th out of our pool. We don't know what place that is overall but we had lots of fun. Thank you to Ms Thomas for coaching us.
