A word from the Board

Board of Trustees —

Thanks to all of the students, parents and teachers who provided feedback via the annual survey. We had 103 responses this year. Below is a summary of the key findings from the survey. Overall satisfaction sits at 3.78 out of 5

The things you like:

  • The teaching staff are well and truly the best feature of the school
  • The communications review and rollout has been successful with the introduction of the APP and the improved newsletter format
  • Parents are grateful for the opportunities the children get, particularly in music, the arts and sports

Areas of concern or room for improvement:

  • Reporting on children’s progress
  • Road safety, particularly at the Halswell Rd crossing is a concern for parents

Reporting has been identified by school management as an area for review in 2019 to address concerns and improve in this area.

The BOT and school leadership are already working hard liaising with NZTA, CCC and the police to get action on the road crossing.

The Halswell School Board of Trustees wish all of our school community a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday. We wish those of you leaving our school the best of luck in your new adventures and we look forward to welcoming back everyone else in 2019. Remember 2019 is an election year for the BOT, so we would encourage interested parents to attend our February and March board meetings to get a handle on what we do prior to the call for nominations.
