Year 5 and 6 camps to Pudding Hill

Rob Naysmith —

An overview of what went on, and a couple of Year 5 reflections.

Last week the year 5 and 6 children went on a three day camp to Pudding Hill in Staveley about 15 minutes inland from Methven. We had eight different activities including: Stream study, air riffles and archery, compass reading, bush walk, outdoor camp cooking, pioneering, orienteering, co-operative activities. We stayed one night in a tent and one night in the cabins, had great food and everyone really enjoyed the experience.

Sleeping in the tent

By: Daniel T31

On Monday at Year 5 camp we were in a light blue tent. It was very windy like someone was blowing on the tent. The people in the tent were Lucas, Leon, Ryan and I. In the middle of the night some noisy people started talking like loud elephants in a tent. Then there was a howling like wolves. I was scared! My heart was pounding then I realised it was only the stags, so I went back to sleep. The sleeping bag was cozy and warm like fluffy bear fur. After that it was the morning. Overnight our tent had shrunk. I went outside and the sky was orange and yellow. I could see the moon and the sun.

Marshmallow fight

The fire was crackling really loudly. I could see the marshmallows melting into peoples mouths. They were delicious like melting chocolate fish with marshmallow on the inside. Yum! I could see people munching on their marshmallows and kebabs. I could see people smiling with sticky marshmallow all over their face. The bees were buzzing over the forest and the misty weather as it rained.
