Maths Open Night (Wednesday 6 November)

Rob Naysmith —

A reminder that you are invited to attend our Maths Open Night at 5:30 pm on Wednesday 6 November (next week). The purpose of this evening is to provide parents/whānau with an opportunity to see maths lessons in action and see what maths is all about at Halswell School.

The children involved in the maths lesson are to be in their studios at 5.20 pm. Other schoolchildren who accompany their parents will be supervised in Ahuriri during the evening to keep numbers in the studios to a minimum. There will be an opportunity at the end of the evening for you to look at the displays with your child/children and to also enjoy a sausage sizzle.

Timetable for the evening:

5:20 pm Children in studios or Ahuriri

5:30 Parents meet in the Hall for a brief presentation from Sarah Cobb from the University of Canterbury

5:45 Move to studios to observe lessons

6:15 Return to the Hall for a summary about what was taking place during the lessons

6:30 Parents to collect children, and the evening will conclude with a sausage sizzle and an opportunity for parents to talk to teachers about what they have seen.
