Teddy Bear Sleepover

We had a fantastic Teddy Bear Sleepover a couple of weeks ago with heaps of soft toys, children and parents joining us in the library for some stories.  As you can see from the photo lots of teddies stayed in the library overnight and got up to all sorts of mischief.  I certainly had my work cut out for me trying to keep them out of too much mischief.  Thanks to everyone who came along, and if you missed out we will have another Teddy Bear Sleepover next year.

Boys Night at the Library - Thursday 12 September

The girls had their night earlier in the year and now it is time for the boys.  Our Boys' Night at the Library is on next Thursday, 12 September, from 7-8pm in our library.  Our special guest author is the fantastic Donovan Bixley.  If you've read some of Donovan's books, whether that is the Flying Furballs series, Dinosaur Trouble, or his picture books, please feel free to bring them along on the night to get them signed.  There will also be some spot prizes to win on the night and everyone who registers gets a goodie bag.  Please RSVP by Tuesday 10 September to zac.mccallum@halswell.school.nz.

Second-Hand Book Sale

On Friday 20 September from 8:30-9:00 inside the library we will have a second-hand book sale.  Books for sale will be old library books that are no longer needed and donated second-hand books.  All books will be 3 for $1 (cash only).  If you have any children's books at home that you no longer need and would like to donate them to the book sale please drop them into the library any morning before school.

Book Week and Book Fair

In week 4 of Term 4 (4-8 November), we will be celebrating our school Book Week.  This will be a celebration of books and reading across the whole school.  We will be having a book character dress-up day on Friday 8 November so your children have plenty of time to choose which book character they would like to come dressed as.  As part of Book Week, we will be holding our Scholastic Book Fair in the library.  This is a great chance to come and buy some books for Christmas presents, while supporting our library at the same time.
