Tēnā koutou e te whānau

Welcome back to new term! I trust you had a safe and relaxing holiday break. I would particularly like to extend a warm welcome to the new students and families who have started at Te Kura o te Tauawa Halswell School this week. A reminder that we will be holding a mihi whakatau to welcome all new families to our kura on Friday at 9.15am in the hall. This invitation extends to anyone who has started this year. This unusual situation is due to Covid-19 restrictions preventing us from holding a mihi whakatau so far in 2022.

Term 4 is always an exciting time of the year, with many events and activities to look forward to. The focus for the term will be on the arts and, in particular visual arts. The learning that has taken place over the term will culminate in an art exhibition held on Thursday, 8 December (Week 8). More information will follow in the coming weeks.

In addition to focusing on visual arts, our students will also be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities and events such as the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival, swimming lessons (Years 0-4) and the Years 5-8 Athletics Day at Ngā Puna Wai.

This term, teachers will be working with their students to complete end-of-year assessments. Reports will go out to parents via Hero on 9 December.

Finally, our Leadership Team is currently in the process of organising the school structure for next year. If, for any reason, your child(ren) will not be returning in 2023, please let the office know asap or complete this brief google form. Thank you to the families who have already done this.

Ngā mihi nui
