There is a real buzz in the air at Halswell School as the preparations for this year's production Reboot really begin to ramp up. As I'm sure you can appreciate, producing an original show with a cast of over 650 primary-aged students is a massive undertaking. There is an enormous amount of thought and planning that goes into this process. It is also a fantastic way of bringing our school community together to celebrate all the artistic learning (dance, drama, music and visual art) that has taken place this term.

I know that the staff and students are all very excited about what is coming up, if not a little nervous, but I'm confident that as the saying goes, "it will be alright on the night!" We look forward to sharing our learning celebration with you at the opening matinee on Tuesday 29 June.

If you haven't already purchased your tickets for any of the shows, these are on sale in the Stadium before school (8.30-9.00am) and after school (3.00-3.30pm). Tickets can be purchased using cash only at $10 per adult and $5 per child.

Proposed changes to the school enrolment zone

Last night, we had two representatives from the Ministry of Education attend the June Board of Trustees meeting to provide an update on the proposed changes to our enrolment zone. These changes have been proposed to help manage any overcrowding that may occur at our school due to future population growth. Consultation on these changes closed on 7 June. The Ministry received around 60 submissions. They are currently in the process of analysing the feedback before a final decision is made about whether the zone will be retracted from some or all of the areas that we currently share with our neighbouring schools.

We expect to have the final decision from the Ministry of Education in July. If the proposed changes are approved, the Board of Trustees will need to decide when the new zone will come into effect. The Board will continue to work closely with the Ministry on any changes and will keep you informed as the situation develops.
