Last Wednesday our Year 5 and 6 boys’ basketball team participated in the Canterbury Indoor Tournament. They had earlier qualified for this by winning the zone competition.

The team knew that the games in this tournament were going to be a lot tougher and this proved to be the case. The first game against West Spreydon was goal for goal with West Spreydon eventually winning 6 - 8. The next few games were also close encounters with our team winning against Kaiapoi North 16 - 8 and Marshland 10 - 8, losing to Paparoa Street 8 - 14 and drawing with Russley 12 - 12 and Burnside 10 - 10.

This gave us a final placing of fourth in our section which meant we narrowly missed qualifying for the playoffs.

This was a very good tournament for the team as all games were competitive with close results. All boys played well as a team, were supportive of each other and demonstrated the Halswell School Values. A big thank you to the parents who supported the team on the day.
