Board of Trustees Update

Board of Trustees —

It has been another term of Covid-19 disruptions, and the Board of Trustees would like to thank the staff, students and parents for their ongoing understanding and support during this. As a Board, we have had a busy term, particularly with the focus on our Strategic Plan Community Consultation process. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 restrictions meant we were unable to host our parent evenings with Nathan Wallis and John Quinn & Dr Sarah Anticich. This has led to a postponement of the whole process, as we felt these evenings would be an invaluable resource for parents engaging in the Community Consultation. Whilst this has been disappointing, we are now confident we have a good framework in place for term one next year and the information gathered so far will feed into that.

This term, the Board reviewed the mid-year progress reports outlining how well our students are performing against school expectations for reading, writing and maths. We also reviewed and discussed how well our learning centres are incorporating the wider parts of the curriculum into what they do. We have been pleased with the performance across the school in all areas of the curriculum, particularly in such a challenging and disruptive year.

We continue to work through the projects that have become a possibility due to the Government’s School Investment Programme. There is work set up for the holidays which include replacing heat pump cages, curtains for the hall and speaker upgrades around the school. We are also underway in the planning stage for the astroturf court which is our largest project from this funding.

Our Chairperson, Francesca Brown resigned from the Board during the term for health reasons. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Francesca for her tireless efforts both for the current Board and during her term with the previous Board. Francesca has been a driving force for many initiatives, her exceptional skills, experience, and passion have been invaluable. We wish Francesca and her family all the best. We are working through the process of filling this vacancy.
