Last week on the 18th of September, many year 7 & 8 students participated in the South Island wide sports tournament, Koru Games. There were multiple sports being played over the three days, including Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, Rugby Sevens, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Bowls, Tennis and Touch. These sports were all spread out over different locations; Lincoln, Rolleston and Prebbleton. This year Halswell School was very successful as lots of the teams won medals, placed in the top 4 and most importantly enjoyed the tournament. Our basketball and girls tennis teams won gold and were both undefeated. The netball, girls rugby sevens and boys tennis teams narrowly lost their finals, finishing with a silver medal around their necks. Overall the tournament was very successful and fun for all involved. We hope to see more people participating next year.
