Family Children's Book Quiz - Thursday 20 May

On Thursday 20 May, from 6:30-7:30pm we're going to have a Children's Book Quiz. We had one a couple of years ago and people have been asking this to come back. You can enter a team of 4-5, and it could be a family team or friends. There will be 5 rounds of questions, all relating to children's books, authors, illustrators and characters. There will be drinks and snacks, prizes for the top team, and book spot prizes for adults and kids.

To enter a team please email me (zac.mccallum@halswell.school.nz) with your name and the number of people on your team. Entries close Monday 17 May.

More family events coming this term

We have two authors coming to Halswell this term as part of our Family Nights at the Library:

Wednesday 8 June, 6:30-7:30pm - Just Joking with Tom E. Moffatt. Tom will be joining us via Zoom to share some tips about writing and telling great jokes. This is sure to be a laugh out loud evening!

Thursday 8 July, 6:30-7:30pm - Picture Book Magic with Ruth Paul. Ruth will be joining us in the library to talk about creating picture books. Ruth is an award-winning author and illustrator, whose books include I am Jellyfish, the Mini Whinny series and the Little Hector series.

Hell Pizza Wheels

If your children did lots of reading in the holidays make sure they pick up a pizza wheel from the library. Children only need to read 7 books to get a free pizza from Hell Pizza. When they have read a book you can sign a section of the pizza wheel, and when all 7 parts are signed I will click their wheel. When a pizza wheel has been clicked they can take it to any Hell Pizza shop to redeem their free pizza.
