Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

I would like to start this newsletter by congratulating all of the children who participated in the various cross country/fun run events over the last week. As I think we would all acknowledge, taking part in cross country isn't everyone's favourite thing to do, but these events are a great chance for our students to develop grit and determination as they make their way around the course. There was certainly plenty of this on display and ultimately was a fantastic way of promoting physical exercise for our tamariki.

Thank you to the teachers for organising the cross-country/fun run events and all of the parents who helped out on the day(s).

Next week I will be travelling with Ōtūmatua to Mt Cook/ Aoraki to take part in their annual camp. I am really looking forward to spending some time connecting with our Years 7&8 students, teachers and parent helpers in what is an absolutely stunning environment. School camps can also be a challenging experience for children but provide our children with the opportunity to learn new skills and understandings by taking them out of their comfort zone. I'm sure that is something we will all embrace!

Finally, I would like to extend a warm invitation to all parents to attend this Friday's assembly (9.15am in the Stadium). Due to losing a few Fridays this term as a result of the upcoming Staff Only Day and production performances, this week's assembly will be hosted by Ahuriri, Huritini and Ōtāwhito. I'm sure it will be a wonderful celebration of the learning taking place across our school. I look forward to seeing you there.
