Zone Netball and Rugby Tournament

Natasha Fraser —

On Tuesday, we had two rugby teams and three netball teams represent Halswell School at the Zone netball and rugby tournament at Lincoln Domain. They all played with pride and fantastic sportsmanship.

Netball 5/6 team

The Year 5 and 6 netball team had an amazing day, with a winning streak up until the last nail-biting game against Lincoln. This placed them as second overall and a spot in the Canterbury competition. The girls proudly represented Halswell with great sportsmanship. A wonderful effort, ka pai girls!

Rugby 5/6 team

The Year 5 and 6 rugby team had a tough assignment playing six games against some quality and often much bigger opponents. We were very proud of the way they applied themselves throughout the day. The grit and determination they showed resulted in them winning three games with two draws and one loss to finish third overall. A great effort all round. A big thank you goes to all of the parents who came out to support the team.

The Year 7/8 netball A team had a great day out at the Lincoln Zone Tournament. They played to their strengths and displayed some awesome netball throughout the competition. The team came away with many positive results finishing 4th in the senior section. Well done team, you showed impressive determination and should be proud of the way you improved throughout the day.

Halswell School Year 7 and 8 boys competed at the Zones rugby tournament this Tuesday. For a young team, they put on a great display of talent and heart. They walked away with a great attitude and our heads held high. They had 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.  I’m very proud of you all and your amazing performance.
