Congratulations

Tracey Mora —

Congratulations to the following children who will be representing Halswell School in varying events.

Christchurch Schools' Music Festival

On 3 November our school choir will be participating in the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival. Recently Duncan auditioned to play trumpet for the concert band, Theo (not pictured) auditioned to play trumpet for the Orchestra and Lucy auditioned to play flute for the Orchestra. All three were successful and will be playing their instrument on the night. Excellent effort!

Spoken Word Poetry - Speaking 4 the Planet

Alyssa and Theo (not pictured) entered a Spoken Word Poetry competition where they wrote a piece of poetry with an environmental theme. They were then videoed performing their piece and entered into the Speaking 4 the Planet (S4P) Competition. This a public speaking, spoken word and visual arts competition. Both have made it to the finals where they will compete against other schools later this week. Well done you two!

ePro8 School Challenge

The ePro8 School Challenge was held last week. This is a science and engineering competition. The N.E.D.A team Duncan, Nate, Alex and Eve won the Years 7 & 8 section and will represent Halswell School at the Inter-schools ePro8 Challenge early next term.

For the Years 5 & 6 we had two team who came 1st=

  • Axolotls: Jesse, Xavier, Jimmy and Matthew
  • Hammer Sharks: Maceo, Lucia, Isabella and Hannah

As we were not allowed to enter two teams into the Inter-Schools competition, these two teams had to compete against each other again. The Axolotls won and will represent Halswell School at the Inter-Schools ePro8 Challenge early next term. The competition was strong!
