Summer Reading sign up and launch

We are running our Summer Reading programme again this year. At this stage of the year I start getting all library books back, but if your children would like to have some books from our library over the holidays they can sign up for Summer Reading.  To sign up, children just need to get a sign-up sheet from the library, get it signed by a parent or guardian and bring it back to me in the library. Anyone can sign up as long as they don't have overdue library books and are returning to Halswell in 2021.

Children who sign up can choose their books between Wednesday 9 December-Wednesday 16 December. The books will need to be returned in the first two weeks of Term 1, 2021.

On Wednesday 9 December we will have our Summer Reading Launch, where our library will be open from 6:30pm-7:30pm for your children to come and choose books. There will be a Goodie Bag for all children who come along.

If you have any questions about Summer Reading or would like me to email you the permission slip please email me - zac.mccallum@halswell.school.nz

Book Drive for Cholmondeley Children's Centre

Thanks to your generous donations during our Book Drive in Book Week we were able to donate two large boxes of good quality books to Cholmondeley Children's Centre. Student Librarian, Lena Abdinor, came up with the idea for the Book Drive and she was able to come over to Cholmondeley in Governor's Bay last week to deliver the books.  Cholmondeley will be giving the books to children who come to stay with them in the lead up to Christmas. Thanks again for your donations.

Book Donations for School Leavers

If you are in Year 8 or are leaving Halswell School next year we welcome a book donation to our library as a memento of your time here. You could donate a favourite book of yours or maybe a book that you like that we don't have in our library. All books that are donated have a bookplate added to the front of the book that says who it was donated by. If you would like some ideas of a book to purchase you can email me or come and see me in the library.
