🏴 First Day of School for all Year 9 and 13 students

Murray McKenzie —

The Powhiri was held out in front of the Hamilton Boys' High School main reception area on Tuesday 30th January.

All Year 9 and new Year 13 students were welcomed to Hamilton Boys' High School on a warm, sunny morning, with numerous speakers and a rousing haka from all Year 13 students.

After the official welcome, the boys were introduced to their tutor group teacher, a photo was taken and an orientation of the school occurred, all before lunch. After lunch, all boys were introduced to the school haka, learning the meaning, pronunciation and actions in one hour before engaging in a series of physical activities in their allocated House for the remainder of the afternoon.

All Argyle Year 9s returned to the Hostel at the end of their school day, had afternoon tea then headed up to the Hostel Prep Room to write a letter home about their first night in Argyle House and their experiences of their first day at school, which were posted home in an envelope that included their family photo taken when they arrived the previous day.
