Under 15 Sevens

On Saturday the 5th of November, our Under 15 team started their Super 8 campaign with a solid 37-7 win over Gisborne Boys' High School.  Their next two matches were considerably closer, with our team beating New Plymouth Boys' High School 25-17, and narrowly prevailing over Hastings Boys' High School, 26-24.

These results put them through to a semi-final against Rotorua Boys' High School, where our team came away with a 19-12 win, and headed into the final to face Palmerston North Boys' High School.  Unfortunately, Palmerston North was simply too strong, and despite our team's best efforts, they went down 17-22.  Congratulations to the team on their efforts and thanks and congratulations to the coaching team of Mr Johan du Doit and Mr Barney Killian for their support of our Juniors Sevens players.

Senior Sevens

Our Senior Sevens team had a narrow first-up win over Napier Boys' High School, 21-17, and then hit their stride, beating New Plymouth Boys' High School, 22-0, and Palmerston North Boys' High School, 27-7.  This put them through to the semi-finals, where perennial foe Rotorua Boys' High School was waiting.  However, our team were utterly dominant, blasting past Rotorua, 40-12, to take on Palmerston North Boys' High School in the final.  Naturally this was a tighter match, but our team prevailed 19-14 to take out the Super 8 title, in what will serve as excellent preparation for the upcoming Condor Sevens Championships.

Congratulations to our team, and thanks and congratulations to our Senior Sevens coaches, Mr Nigel Hotham, Mr Greg Kirkham and Mr Cameron Moorby.  We wish you good luck for the National Championships next month.
