Murray McKenzie —

Kia ora koutou,

With Week 4 coming to an end today, I am pleased to report that all 55 new boarders are very settled and fully engaged in Hostel life. They have all enjoyed the many activities, both on and off-site, that were organised for them as part of their induction into Hostel life. There have been lots of smiles over the past four weeks!

We, as a staff, have included many photos in this newsletter from the events that have taken place over the past month, some with all 172 boarders involved. The positive interaction between all year levels has been pleasing, with the Year 12 and 13 Senior Leaders and Prefects continuing to impress with their guidance and care of our young men.

ARGYLE HOUSE OPEN DAY

A reminder our annual Open Day is scheduled for Thursday the 9th of March.

Can you please support us by informing people within your local community that the Open Day is taking place, commences at 10.00am and concludes at 2.00pm. It is for all year levels, not only Year 8s coming into Year 9 in 2024. We welcome all prospective boarders and their whānau.

There will be a variety of Hostel and Hamilton Boys' High School staff presentations as well as Hostel and School tours. Morning tea and lunch is provided for all visitors.

Thank you for encouraging people in your area to attend to witness first-hand the Argyle, Grove and School environments.

YEAR 9 ENROLMENTS 2024

Enrolments close on Thursday the 30th of March. Can you please support Argyle House by reminding those within your community that all applications close on this date.

Families can download a 2024 enrolment form off the school's website under the 'Boarding' tab. Or, they can email Hostel Administrator, Mrs Katrina McLaughlin, kmclaughlin@hbhs.school.nz or phone her after 9.30am each weekday (except Tuesday) 07 853 0437, and Katrina will post out an enrolment pack.

ATHLETIC SPORTS

We welcome all whānau to attend our annual Athletic Sports Day at Porritt Stadium on Wednesday the 1st of March. Our boys have spent the past five lunch hours attending preliminaries around the school grounds for both track and field events, to try and qualify for the Championship finals.

There will be a mixture of Championship and Non-Championship events on the day. Our boys will bus down from 8.00am and be seated in the grandstand for the day, returning to Argyle and Grove at 2.30pm.

SET LEAVE

The final Set Leave for Term 1 is scheduled for Friday the 10th of March, with the Hostel closing at 5.30pm on this Friday. The Hostel will re-open from 5.30pm on Sunday the 12th of March.

Please free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.

Ngā mihi
