In the last newsletter we indicated that we were making changes to reading in Junior Prep. The aim of this change was to foster a love for reading and enhance the reading ability of our students.

The notable modification is the requirement for boys to bring their own books to prep and dedicate the first fifteen minutes of the session to this book. This simple yet effective change aims to encourage our boys to delve into the world of literature and develop essential reading skills to prepare them appropriately for assessments in the senior school. 

Once each boy finishes a book, they have the option to submit a book report. In this report, they have to provide a brief overview of what the book is about and what they enjoyed most about it. 

As a testament to the success of this change, Jack Mear, Liam Callaghan, and Lewis Wheeler were recently awarded prizes for their outstanding book reports. Their exemplary book reports not only demonstrate the students' strong reading comprehension skills but also articulate their thoughts. Unfortunately, Jack was absent when the photo was taken. 

We aim to continue celebrating our juniors reading accomplishments over the coming terms. Please continue to encourage your son to commit to making the most his time in prep.
