🏴 Argyle's Got Talent: A Night of Entertainment! 🎭️ 🎷🎼 🎻 🎙️
Argyle's Got Talent, our Hostel's annual talent show, showcased the diverse talents of our boarders in a night filled with music, magic, and entertainment.
This year’s event, judged by our Weekend Matron Mrs Leanne Twaddle, Deputy Head prefect and Te Maurea Whiritoi leader Pikitawhaki Haggie, and former Hostel Master Mr Brendon Cooley, was a testament to the creativity and enthusiasm within our community.
The night kicked off with a series of entertaining videos, setting a lively tone for the evening. Among the highlights was a TikTok compilation that had the audience let out a few laughs, capturing the spirit of fun that defines Argyle’s Got Talent.
The competition was fierce, starting with a juggling contest that showcased the skill and precision of our participants. Joe Williams emerged victorious, his masterful hand-eye coordination was impressive.
Musical performances were a key feature of the evening, with the Grove Boys delivering a group song led by Cullen Crowe on guitar. Both Jack Higgins and Caleb Brown performed musical pieces that impressed the judges, earning them a well-deserved third equal placing and one of the night’s most memorable moments came when the audience joined in to sing along with Jack's saxophone performance. The collective harmony created a magical atmosphere, making it a truly special moment.
Karlos Duncan brought a touch of magic to the evening with a card trick performed for the judges, while a group of Year 9 students added a twist of humour with a prank that left some audience members mystified.
New boarder Richie Rakesh made his presence felt throughout the night, excelling in several challenges and proving himself a fine geographer. However, it was Masami Kawai’s solo performance that had the judges in awe, earning him a well-deserved second place.
The grand finale featured a powerful singing trio of Fraser Gray, Caol Paoo, and Teuvira Umaki. Their waiata was the perfect way to close the night, capturing the essence of the event and securing them the top spot in the competition.
A special mention must go to all the participants and helpers who made the evening run smoothly. Argyle’s Got Talent once again proved to be a highlight of our hostel life, showcasing the incredible talents and camaraderie that make our community so special. We look forward to what next year’s event will bring!
