Student of the Week: Tahlor Cahill (Term 3 Week 2)

Matthew Clark —

Introducing our newest 'Student of the Week' for Term 3 Week 2, Tahlor Cahill.

Tahlor is a Year 13 student at Hamilton Boys' High School.  Despite this being his last year in high school, 2021 is Tahlor's first year with us at HBHS.  In his first year at HBHS, Tahlor has made a significant positive contribution to our school, which we feel is worthy of this acknowledgement.

Having moved north to Hamilton from Shirley Boys' High School, Tahlor currently lives at our school's boarding facility - Argyle House.  As a senior within the boarding house, Tahlor is a role model and mentor for juniors within the Hostel.  It cannot be understated how important it is for juniors within our school to have positive senior role models around them.

Tahlor is also our school's Captain of Volleyball.  This means he captains our school's top volleyball team at regional and National tournaments, while also working within school to promote the sport to his fellow schoolmates.

In rugby, Tahlor plays as a lock in the second row for our school's 1st XV.  He has become an integral part of our school's squad as they hope to win their Super 8 1st XV Rugby competition, contested between fellow all-boys schools in the central North Island.  Next year, Tahlor will join the Crusaders New Zealand Rugby Academy, which has produced over 40 All Blacks and counting.

Other sports Tahlor has participated in include: football, cricket, waterpolo, rugby sevens as well as Australian Rules Football (last year he was awarded the AFL New Zealand Rising Star Award).

Tahlor is a humble and kind student at school, who is always committed and focused on the task at hand.  We wish Tahlor all the best for the rest of 2021 and beyond.
