⚽ HBHS 1st XI Football team remain top of the table after win over Cambridge High School

Kynan McCracken —

On the 18th of June the HBHS 1st XI took on their Cambridge High School counterparts in the fifth round of the Premier Boys Division 1 competition.

Under the lights at Gower Park, the HBHS 1st XI Football team took on Cambridge High School in the fifth round of the Premier Boys Division 1 competition.  After an unfortunate mid-week result, the boys were looking to end the week on a high.  Utilising this mid-week pain the boys came out firing and created multiple scoring chances.  We came close early on, hitting the crossbar, before Daniel Steffert opened the scoring with a tidy finish inside the six-yard box.  The domination continued and soon paid off again, via a cracking finish from Sopharachwathanak Bee Hong.  We went into halftime 2 - 0 up, feeling comfortable.  We knew Cambridge would come out firing and they did just that.  However, the defence held strong and a great team goal finished off by Legion Rogerson saw us go 3 - 0 up. Unfortunately, we went down to ten men with 10 minutes to play and Cambridge converting their spot-kick saw the score go to 3 - 1.  But after some strong defence and a quick counter-attack goal finished by Jomig Wenceslao, the game was put to bed as we won 4 - 1.
