Alex arrived in late February to join both the School and Hostel staff, and to take up residence at Grove as an Assistant Master.

We’re pleased to welcome Alex to Hamilton Boys’ High School as the newly appointed Head Rowing Coach for the 2025–26 rowing season. He joins us from Rangiora, North Canterbury.

Originally rowing out of the Cure Rowing Club, Alex boasts an impressive list of achievements. He was a two-time World Under 23 Rowing Champion in the Eight in 2013 and 2014, and placed 6th in the A Final of the Eight at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

He is currently completing his Bachelor of Sport and will also work towards his teaching qualification during his time at HBHS over the next 18 months.

Based at Grove, he will also be undertaking Hostel duties across both sides of the Hostel. We extend a warm welcome to Alex – to the Waikato, to HBHS, to Argyle House and Grove – and, of course, as the new leader of the HBHS Rowing Programme for the upcoming season.
