On Monday the 13th of June, four of our senior students had the opportunity to compete in the WorldSkills Electrical Interschool competition at Wintec’s Rotokauri Campus.

Damas Buhendwa, Keelan Gannon, Shiwantha Wijekulasuriya, and Julien Erhahamoba were entered as teams of two and over the course of the day completed five electrical modules.

The modules covered Electrical Wiring, First Aid Health and Safety, Programming, Fault Finding, an Aptitude Test and a Time Trial. These were all tasks an electrical apprentice may have to carry out during a typical working day.

We were very proud of our boys – they did exceptionally well, had lots of fun and gained a wealth of knowledge from the electrical providers and employers who were also in attendance on the day.
