Congratulations to our team on qualifying for the Chess Power Nationals.

On Friday the 9th of June, a group of HBHS students competed in an inter-school Chess tournament hoping to qualify to represent the Hamilton region in the Chess Power Nationals to be held in Auckland in October.

Our A team of Lasen Silva, Nathan Sun, Jeremy Coombe, Daniel Loy and Hugh Masters won the team tournament for HBHS to qualify for Nationals. In the individual event, Lasen won gold with an impressive 6½ from 7. Nathan on 6 and Jeremy on 5 1⁄2 won silver and bronze medals respectively and also secured individual invitations to play in the National Champions event.
