Susan Hassall —

Dear Parents

It is with a sense of wonder and gratitude that I look back on the term we have shared as a school family. We have been fortunate to enjoy a normal term, with all of the special opportunities that Term 2 brings - the pleasure of being able to focus on teaching in the classroom without interruption or distraction, the Winter sports season, the New Zealand Super 8 Cultural Festival, Open Day, the School Ball, and the many other events and experiences reflected in this newsletter. The school has been settled and happy, and we appreciate all of your support and involvement.
As you will read in this newsletter, several staff have left through the term, to begin new challenges, and I thank them for their contributions. We are very fortunate to have been able to make some strong appointments to replace them, so next term we will welcome a new group of staff to our community.
I take this opportunity to thank the many, many parents and students who have spoken to me following my recent Queen's Birthday Honour Award. I feel very humble, and very appreciative to all who nominated me, and to all who spoke so generously to me following the announcement. I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to spend many years at this very special school, and the credit for any success must be given to all involved, as, truly, Hamilton Boys' High School is a wonderful village raising some spectacular young men! Thank you all for your care. The haka at the Senior school assembly was one of the most moving moments of my career.

I wish all of our young men a very relaxing, yet productive holiday break, as we prepare for the critically important Term 3.  Thank you all for the very real difference you make to our world.

Warmest regards
