During the last weekend of July, our swimming team competed at the NZSS Swimming Competition in Auckland.

There were some outstanding efforts with the relay medallists as follows: 

2 x 50m Relay - Orlando Hardie & Ethan Macdonald 🥇

4 x 50m Medley Relay - Orlando Hardie, Ethan Macdonald, Miles Julian & Max Downey 🥈

4 x 50m Freestyle Relay - Orlando Hardie, Ethan Macdonald, Miles Julian & Max Downey 🥈

Our Individual medallists were: 

Ethan Macdonald (17/18 year old division) 

50m Backstroke 🥈

100m Backstroke 🥉

Max Downey (16 year old division) 

50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly 🥉

Orlando Hardie (16 year old division)

50m Freestyle 🥈

100m Butterfly 🥉

We had other top ten swims from several other swimmers in the team with the overall points combining to a fifth place finish for HBHS at the National Championships.

This follows on from the team winning the Waikato Secondary School Championship as the top boys team and top overall school with our senior relay breaking two Waikato records at the event:

4 x 25m Medley Relay - Miles Julian, Samuel Keightley, Ethan Macdonald & Orlando Hardie

4 x 25m Freestyle Relay - Miles Julian, Max Downey, Ethan Macdonald & Orlando Hardie.
