Student of the Week: Benjamin Marsden (Term 3 Week 1)

Matthew Clark —

Introducing our school's 'Student of the Week' for Term 3 Week 1, Benjamin Marsden.

Benjamin is a Year 13 student at Hamilton Boys' High School, and has been recognised with this award for his outstanding service within and beyond the school community.

Ben is a Lion Mentor as well as being an Academic Honours student at HBHS.  Lion Mentors have an important role in our school community, as they mentor Year 9 students who could be in need of useful advice from a student's perspective.  Having endorsed his Level 2 studies with Excellence, as an Academic Honours Student, he also helps to tutor Junior students in need of help with their schoolwork.

His other charitable acts of Service within our school include:

- Coaching and helping the Junior Steel Football team at their after school trainings and Saturday morning games.

- Tutor and Senior helper at the Multicultural Manaaki Centre.

- International Student Mentoring

- Argyle House Tutoring

- Student volunteer as a part of the Leo Club

- Mathematics Tutor during Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes

Ben also recently volunteered to help the school with Field Days Parking as part of a school fundraiser, where he did overtime.

Outside of school, Ben contributes to his Church community in the form of Service.  These acts of charity include visiting the elderly, cleaning their homes and cleaning campsites at Temple View.  As a part of his Church's Youth Groups, he helps to plan fun and engaging activities.  What a guy!

On behalf of the school and wider community, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of others in the name of service.
