🚵‍♂️ HBHS BMX Riders star at the New Zealand BMX Nationals
Sheree Williamson reports on our riders and their efforts in the Hawke's Bay recently.
A contingent of riders headed off to the Hawke's Bay on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of March.
Nixon - started off the weekend with a first, then had a very unfortunate crash and was unable to finish that race and the next one. Nixon put everything on the line to make a comeback, considering his injuries he raced amazingly. Heading through to semifinals.
Kees - Day 1, he really put himself out there with four good placings, unfortunately, Day 2 ended after two crashes.
Morris and Zane - battled all weekend doing their very best against New Zealand’s top NZ14 age group with most of their competition from the deep south. They eventually finished in 15th and 17th.
Nick - has really stepped up into the Junior Elite world this year. Nick is flying through the air and should be super proud of his second placing at Nationals. It is a real honour to see Nick competing against other world-ranked riders all over the world.
Taine - The battles were on in this fierce age group. Taine rode incredibly all weekend with seconds and thirds. He qualified for semifinals then onto finals. Taine had a tough battle in the final, eventually ranking him NZ8.
Levi - After his recent foot injury, Levi was back on his race bike in time for Nationals. Day 1, Levi achieved first, second and third placings. Day 2, he had an unfortunate crash, but that did not stop him. Levi qualified for semifinals then onto finals, ranking NZ4.
