🌎 Level 2 Geography Field Trip

Andy Thomson —

On the final week of what was a crazy first term at HBHS, the Year 12 Geography students left Hamilton to venture eastwards to the Bay of Plenty

Alongside Mrs Shephard, Mr Thomson, and Miss Simmonds, the two classes headed to Mount Maunganui to collect data for their 2.5 Geographical Research Internal.

The students collected data to investigate a variety of hypotheses that they had devised on their own. The collection process involved questionnaires, pedestrian counts, and finally land use and building height mapping. To ensure that we had a wide variety of data, each student was involved in the collection of all the specified areas.

It was an incredibly productive day and the extensive amount of data that was collected perfectly displays the focus and desire of this group to be successful in the subject.

Finally, it would not be a Geography field trip unless we managed to sneak in a bit of field sketching and what a view to sketch!
