The Year 9 Advanced Learning Programme Retreat took place at the University of Waikato on November the 15th. Mrs Hassall and Dr Williams both spoke to open the day with comments about the Retreat theme of “Optimising Our Potential.” The boys were entertained, intrigued, and challenged by the Keynote Address presented by Professor Bryony James (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research - University of Waikato). Four interactive workshops were led by staff members: “Creating Balance - Incorporating wellbeing into your school journey” (Mrs Bower and Miss Weller), “Learning: What Makes You Tick?” (Ms Van der Beek and Mr Thomson), “Science: The Fast and The Curious” (Mr Potter) and “Collaboration/Team Building” (Mr Te Ruki-Chambers and Mr Scott).
