The Waikato District round of the National Chamber Music Competition was held at University of Waikato on Friday June 17th.

Daniel and Nathanael Loy and Kevin Li, the three members of Tritones, were the champion group and have now gone through to the Northern Regional Finals on Saturday July 2nd.

Alex Liu’s trio were awarded the adjudicates award and are still in the running for the next round, pending the results of the other regional competitions still to take place over the next 10 days.

These students have been rehearsing for this competition every Friday after school, for many hours, for over a term. A lot of hard work has paid off. Well done to all of these students.

Thank you to Mrs Sharon Stephens for the high calibre chamber music programme she continues to run here at HBHS and the time and dedication she puts into our orchestral students. After Friday's competition Sharon then spent seven hours here on Saturday running a workshop with the orchestra, in preparation for their performances next term.
