The HBHS Kickathon 🏉

On Wednesday the 18th of May, the HBHS Service Committee put together the Kickathon event. The inspiration for this event came from All Black legend Dan Carter’s kickathon held on April 7th - April 8th where he cleared 1598 goal kicks for 24 hours straight to raise funds to provide safe and clean water for kids in the Pacific with the collaboration of the UNICEF charity and the DC10 fund. The Service Committee created an alternative version where a number of teachers and students donated a small koha allowing them a chance to win one of four rugby balls signed by Dan Carter. Donors received the opportunity to kick a ball into a bin or into an area of cones placed 25m away to enter the draw. Of the 18 that successfully entered the draw, four names were drawn at an Assembly. The event raised over $500 which has been donated to help provide safe, clean water for kids in the Pacific.
