Naval Base visit
Four of our senior boys have just had a base experience at Devonport Naval Base also known as HMNZS Philomel.
Maz Lockyer (Year 13) had this to say about the visit...
"I was in mixed mind about what I wanted to do in the future. I was interested in a possible career with the Defence Forces and this visit really cemented for me a career in the Navy."
The event was really well organised and the boys were taken to Auckland by our local Defence Force recruiters.
The boys attended seminars providing information about the navy, toured the base, went on board the HMNZS Te Kaha and had an amazing lunch.
HMNZS Te Kaha is one of ten Anzac-class frigates, and one of two serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy. The name Te Kaha is Māori, meaning 'fighting prowess' or 'strength'.
If you are 16 years or over and want to visit The Naval Base or Air Force Base, check out the details here.
Air Force visit - disregard the part about having to have an adult accompany if the student is under 18. This has just changed.
