Argyle House House Singing and Haka 2022 by Wendy Moffitt

House Singing & Haka Competitions

Argyle House wins the House Haka competition!

These were the final two events of the 2022 House competition, performed in front of the entire school at our celebration assembly on Wednesday 28th September in Gymnasium 1. As the whole school was involved each event was worth double points, so gave us the opportunity to try and roll over the top of the current leaders Wilson House.

Argyle House sang our school song 'Kapuia' and 'Do You Hear The People Sing'. Despite the best efforts of our conductor, Jackson Murphy, to keep us in in tempo, we finished in 4th place giving us 6 points towards our House total.

The Haka was extremely well led by Rangiwai Lunjevich with the entire Hostel in sync giving Argyle House the win. One of the judges stated our boys' pukana, actions, passion, volume and technical accuracy were a cut above the other five Houses. Congratulations boys and a special thanks to Argyle Master, Matua Stefan West for his dedication to ensuring our boys were prepared going in to today's competition.

The 12 points added to our total ended up have no bearing on the final result. Wilson House beat Argyle House into second place by 11½ points after a fiercely contested House competition competed across 15 sporting, academic and cultural events throughout the year. No KFC this year for the boys!

A special thanks to all boys in Argyle House for another great year of House competition events. They were well led by Head Prefect and House Captain, Thomas Verry, and Deputy Head Prefect and Deputy House Captain, Joseph Lorimer. Thanks must go to our Junior House Leader, Jack Ramsey and Deputy Junior House Leader, Alex Arnold.
