HBHS Badminton Team win Super 8 Title

Raphael Deloy reports on our team's victory in New Plymouth.

On Thursday the 24th of June, the Premier Badminton team travelled to New Plymouth to compete in the Super 8 Tournament.  We began on a good note, winning all our three ties comprehensively on the first day.  We still had two more to play the following day, so we conserved our energy, and were ready to face the top two teams the next morning.  Our semi-final tie was against Tauranga Boys' College, who were really tough, but game by game we pulled through and eventually won 5 - 1.  After planning our lineup to face the defending champions, Palmerston North, we felt ready to fight for the shield.  Two games into the tie, we were tied one game apiece.  We then had to win three out of the four remaining games to take the title.  Everyone played their very best and we pulled through, winning the tie 5 - 1.  We are now the Super 8 champions, after waiting six long years to take the title.  We are very proud of our efforts and would like to thank our teachers and parents for supporting us and believing we could do it.  A very special thank you to Mr Kuggeleijn for making the trip with us, and to Mrs Varma for organising everything,
