HBHS 1st XV Rugby Team Defeat New Plymouth Boys' High School
Our 1st XV took on the New Plymouth 1st XV in the annual exchange, winning the close game 36 - 29.
In the first round of the 2021 Super 8 competition, our 1st XV came out firing, scoring three early tries giving us a 17 - 0 advantage. New Plymouth then struck back with two tries and a penalty kick closing the gap to 17 - 15 heading into half-time. An early second half try from New Plymouth gave them a 17 - 22 lead, but with lock Tahlor Cahill being tackled in the air, New Plymouth were down to 14 men. Our boys knew to take advantage of this opportunity and hit back with three tries, helping us to reclaim the lead. New Plymouth had the final say in the match with a try right on full-time, making the score 36 - 29.
