HBHS 1st XI Football team get the job done over the HBHS 2nd XI

On Saturday the 26th of June, the HBHS 1st XI faced off against the HBHS 2nd XI in the sixth round of the WSSFA Premier Boys Division One competition.

On a cold Saturday morning, needing a win to keep ourselves top of the table, the HBHS 1st XI came up against a strong HBHS 2nd XI.  We knew the 2nd XI never backs down from a challenge and would be hungry to get another win over the top team. They came out strongly as we knew they would, but our boys stuck to their game play and remained calm.  Despite having multiple chances throughout the half, the score remained at 0 - 0 going into half time.  With the 2nd XI keeping the score level we knew they'd be happy to sit back and let us control the game.  This proved to be the case and for the majority of the second half we kept the ball and dictated the play.  The 1st XI opened the scoring courtesy of Legion Rogerson halfway through the second half to give us a 1 - 0 lead.  With 15 minutes to play and ourselves in the driving seat we were feeling comfortable, but knew we had to remain focused to get the job done.  We did just this as the defence held strong and managed to see out the game to win 1 - 0 and keep ourselves top of the table.
