Honours Awards 2022

Congratulations to our recipients on this acknowledgement of their achievements.

The HBHS Honours Awards are a tradition which acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our top athletes who have been able to excel in their chosen code.

Over the years these awards have developed in order to appreciate students in a wider range of code with Honours Awards now available to be earned across a range of sports for top placings in a New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship or selection to the highest possible National team available in an affiliated New Zealand Secondary School Sport. 

First Team Game Badges:

 First Team Badge for 30 games for the Senior Premier Basketball Team to Cole Goodson, Hemi Neale, Jamie Sosa, Te Tatau Strother, and Samuel Walker.

 First Team Badge for 20 games for the 1st XI Cricket Team to Tom Martin, Logan McKay, Ewald Schreuder, and Christopher Seel.

 First Team Badge for 14 games for the 1st XI Football team to Isaac Bates, Connor Cloete, Niall Fletcher, Charlie Holloway, David Hungwe, Liam Jessep, and Cooper Wink

 First Team Badge for 14 games for the 1st XI Hockey Team to Benjamin Cooper, Corban Denize, Franko du Preez, James Jewell, Natthanael Lavasi'i, Jono Nelson, Thomas Pilmore-Evans, Lachlan Robertson, and Alexander Speirs.

National Championship Awards:

 Bronze National Championship Award for 3rd place, NZSS Open Water Swimming Championships, 15-19 Age Group, over 2.8km to Quinn Boyle.

 Bronze National Championship Award for 3rd place, NZSS Open Water Swimming Championships, 15-19 Age Group, over 1.25km to Dominic Fawkner.

 Bronze National Championship Award for 3rd place, NZSS Open Water Swimming Championships, 15-19 Age Group, over 500m to Dominic Fawkner.

 Bronze National Championship Award for 3rd place, NZSS Swimming Championships, 8x50 Freestyle Relay to Orlando Hardie, Miles Julian, Ethan Macdonald, and Hunter Read.

 Bronze National Championship Awards for 3rd place, NZSS Swimming Championships, 8x50 Freestyle Relay and 4x50m Freestyle Relay to Matthew Bruning, Joshua Edwards, Elijah Singleton, and Dominic Fawkner.

 Silver National Championship Award for 2nd place, NZSS Inline Hockey Tournament to Leonadis Blacker, Fuyi Li, Felix Lu, Sinan Lu, Daniel Middleton, David Nguyen, Shakayden Pang, Lachlan Robertson, Ethan Sale, and Matthew Tangney.

 Silver National Championship Award for 2nd place, NZSS Lacrosse Tournament to the Lacrosse Premier Team: Jake Armstrong, Ashan Barr, John-David Brown, Scott Cathcart, Benjamin Cowen, James Harrison, Benjamin Johnson, Max Lockyer, Devon Ormsby, Edison Ormsby, Finn Ryan, Mark Seager, Blake Townsend, Tom Wynne, Do-Hun Yoo, and Eric Zhao.

 Silver National Championship Award for 2nd place, NZSS Triathlon Championships, to the Three-Man Team: Quinn Boyle, Reuben Fraser, and Mathijs Wetzels.

 Silver National Championship Award for 2nd place, NZSS Water Polo Championships to the Senior Premier Team: Hugo Barbour, Joshua Edwards, Sherif Hosni, Oliver Ingram, Mitchell Keightley, Samuel Keightley, Miles Julian, George Oliver, Christian-Lee Pogai, Hunter Read, and Elijah Singleton.

 Gold National Championship Award for 1st place, NZSS Ki-o-rahi Championships to the Premier Ki-o-rahi Team: Kaelan Haggie, Te Maia Huirama, Dallas Rata-Makene, Joshua Reihana, Te Ao Tuuroa Samson, Cayliss Shepherd, Masami Sorenson, Te Tatau Strother, and Patrick Taitoko.

Gold National Championship Award for 1st place, NZSS Maadi Cup Regatta, to the Senior Rowing Eight: Oliver Duncan, Daniel Humphrey, Logan Jenner, Ethan Johnson, William Mackintosh, William Milne, Toby Smith, Joshua Syme, and Adam Wilson

 Gold National Championship Award for 1st place, NZ Barbarians Top 4 Rugby National Championships to the 1st XV: Liam Anderson, Jamie Brewer, Zach Coffey, Kurtis Hana, Tama Hodgson, Patrick Kailahi, Inga Kokohu, Breyton Legge, Rangiwai Lunjevich, Christian MacEwan, William Martin, Oliver Mathis, Tom McCarthy, Raharuhi Palmer, Caelys-Paul Putoko, Brodie Robinson, Mac Russ, Payton Spencer, Liam Sturm, Mitchell Swann, Joshua Syme, Aki Tuivailala, and Hiraka Waitai-Haenga.

 Gold National Championship Award for 1st place, NZSS Triathlon Championships, to the Three-Man Team: Dominic Fawkner, Robin Kos, and Joseph Morgan.

A variation to the school Honours Cap was introduced in order to recognise outstanding achievements outside of our major codes. These are awarded to students who represent their sport nationally at the highest level available to a secondary school student. The following boys have been awarded this New Zealand Honours Cap for selection to the following teams:
