Quinn Boyle finishes second at the World Ice Swimming Championships in Samoëns, France

Congratulations to our long-distance-swimming superstar on his latest results.

In January, when most of New Zealand heads to the coasts to soak up the sunshine and (relatively) warm water, HBHS Year 13 student Quinn Boyle was in pursuit of a very different swimming experience.  Quinn headed first to England, and then to Samoëns, France, for the World Ice Swimming Champions, where the lake water was a balmy 3 degrees at its warmest!  Quinn said the weather was actually really nice, although snow on the last day dropped the water temperature down to 2 degrees.  His results were as follows - second overall on points in the Under 19 section, fourth overall in the 50m freestyle, and 8th in the 250m freestyle and 500m freestyle.  We congratulate Quinn on these efforts and look forward to hearing about his next extreme adventure in the water.
