Shave for a Cure 2022

On Friday August the 12th, HBHS held its annual Shave for a Cure event to help raise money for the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer organisation. With help from Varda Academy and their willingness to share their barbering skills, a total of 60 people (students and teachers) had their heads shaved to show that they support those that face cancer. As shaving one’s head due to cancer can prove to be an isolating experience, our HBHS whānau shaved theirs to help patients feel that they are not alone. Leading up to the day of the event, these kind individuals supported the cause by finding advocates to sponsor them for shaving their heads. Altogether, HBHS managed to raise an incredible $29,000 to go towards this cause.  Thank you to everyone who stepped up and dared to go bare this year, and thank you to everyone who donated in support of this worthiest of causes.  Tino pai, HBHS!
