Bennett finally get on the board in Matthew Allen Cup Tug of War

At long last, Liam Anderson's Bennett House have tasted their first victory in the Matthew Allen Cup for 2022, claiming victory in the Tug of War.

The competition was fierce in the cauldron that is Gym 3, with Bennett streaking out to an early lead winning both the Junior competitions comfortably. Knowing a Year 11 loss would see Bennett receive their first points of the year, the Senior Sutherland lads rallied, taking out the Year 11 and 12 competitions forcing a Year 13 Tug of War to decide the outcome of the entire competition.

A strong Year 13 Bennett contingent consisting of Liam Anderson, Ruatiaki Joseph, Ashan Barr, Luke Haddon, Breyton Legge, the ever eager and shirtless Jackson Murphy and anchor Snowden Hemi-Hill destroyed their Sutherland counterparts forcing Captain of Sutherland Sam Potter into his first Lake Shield Presentation of the Year. After six events in the Matthew Allen Cup, Sutherland still sit in a commanding position, leading the overall Matthew Allen Cup 10-2.

Year 9 - Bennett 2-0

Year 10 - Bennett 2-0

Year 11 - Sutherland 2-0

Year 12 - Sutherland 2-0

Year 13 - Bennett 2-0
