Week 8, Term 4

Claudine Campbell —

This will be our final Newsletter for 2023. We will post pictures from our End of Year Assembly on Facebook. Details of our last day of school is posted below.

Miniball: We had many teams playing this year in Year 3-6.  Huge thanks to all the volunteers who coached and managed our teams.  We would not be able to enter teams without you. Special mention this year goes to our Year 6 Hampstead Heat team (pictured above) who were awarded the "Most Sporting" award.  We are incredibly proud of the commitment and perseverance you all showed.

Our Year 6's: I have enjoyed having my special morning tea dates with our Year 6's over the last week.  We've enjoyed talking about some special memories and highlights.  They are (mostly) very excited for the next chapter in the schooling journey.  We wish them all the very best and look forward to celebrating them at our End of Year Assembly.

School Vegetable Gardens: Our school vegetable gardens are now starting to take off! Kai for Kids have kindly donated these to us. Room 8 and one of our parents got busy making them one afternoon with the help of one of our Dads - Shane. Some of the Teachers then helped fill them up with all the soil. April from Mitre 10 has been coming every two weeks to help us plant, weed and learn about the plants. Every fortnight she brings us some different plants to plant and learn about. We now have tomatoes, courgettes, lettuces, beans, strawberries, corn and some flowering plants to encourage the bees. Thanks also to Samuel and Taite from Room 8 who have been taking care of the watering. We look forward to keeping up with the gardens next year and using some of the vegetables in our lunches!

Second Hand Uniform Sale: Mrs Karen Kilgour is kindly giving up her time to sell Second Hand uniforms on Thursday 7 December in the Hall 12-12.30pm.

End of Year Celebration: On our last day, Thursday 14 December, we will hold our End of Year Assembly outside the library at 11am. All welcome.  This will be followed by a picnic lunch kindly provided by Kai for Kids. Children are welcome to leave early with family from 1pm.  Children remaining at school will return to class at 1.30pm and finish at the usual 3pm.

Class Placements 2024: On Friday (8th Dec) all Year 0-5 Students will meet their new class and teacher for next year.  They will come home with their reports and this will include a stationery list.  These lists are also available on our school website.

Student of the Week: Last week, we celebrated Jin of Rm 16. For being an outstanding role model in our class.  Jin, you are really challenging yourself to be a good learner and a responsible member of our class. You are helping, encouraging and supporting others to make good choices and to become more confident in their own abilities. Well done Jin! Such leadership skills are so good to see in Junior students.  This week, we celebrated Angel of Rm 7. Angel is a wonderful member of Room 7, who brings a smile to our faces daily. He is a hard diligent worker, who pushes himself to always achieve the highest standard possible. Your can do attitude towards your work and school life, inspires so many around you. Room 7 is very lucky to have such an amazing, passionate learner! Keep up the great mahi Angel!
