Enrolling your child

Please fill in the enrolment form online ENROLMENT FORM LINK or pop into the school office. Please also provide your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record and proof of address and we will make a copy of these. Once we receive your application, we will make contact. 

New Entrant Enrolments

After you have enrolled your child with us, I will get in touch with you via email a month before their first visit date. This will give you information about what to expect at their school visits and information about starting school.

Our school has cohort entry in place from Term 1, 2025.

The Ministry of Education supports schools to implement cohort entry with 5 year old children starting school at the beginning of each term and the mid point of each term (8 intakes across the year). Tamariki must be at least 5 years old to start school but are not required to start school until their sixth birthday. This moves away from all children starting on the day they have their fifth birthday.

Cohort entry has a range of benefits for children’s well-being and learning, schools’ ability to structure transitions more easily, and for teachers, due to fewer interruptions, more time to teach. Cohort entry is about helping tamariki to settle better into school. There is evidence that starting school alongside other children helps them build relationships and supports a smoother entry to school life. Schools that are already using cohort entry believe it offers their tamariki the best start to their school life.

The Board at Hampstead School has approved the Cohort Entry for tamariki starting school following the consultation process.

Starting from Term 1, 2025 there will be two entry points per term , the first at the beginning and the second cohort will be in the middle of the term, with start dates specified by the Ministry of Education.

Cohort Entry Dates for 2025

Term 1: 27 January & 10 March

Term 2: 28 April & 26 May

Term 3: 14 July & 18 August

Term 4: 6 October & 10 November
