Newsletter Week 10, Term 1, 2025

Claudine Campbell —

Welcome to the last letter for Term 1. Next week is the last week of an 11 week action packed term. Term 2 starts on Monday 28 April. We invite whanau along to school on Tuesday for our Pasifika Day 🌸 Our Cultural Ambassadors have planned some fun activities for everyone and will lead these on the day. Details are in the graphic above and a timetable of the day will be published on Hero. We hope to see you there.

Welcome Miss Sophie Peak: Sophie is spending the last two weeks of term in Rm 1 getting to know the children and the routines. She will then open Rm 6 at the start of Term 2 and will have a group of the older Rm 1 children. We welcome Sophie to our kura.

Second hand Uniform sale: Mrs Kilgour will run a sale on Monday 28 April from 3pm in the library. Cash only and nothing over $5.

Japanese Students visit: We were very fortunate to have a group of students from Japan that are currently attending Ashburton College visit us on Tuesday last week. Jin and Leon did a fabulous job welcoming them in Japanese. The students sang us a song and visited classes and shared some games and activities from their culture.

Schooldocs Policies: Our Policies and Procedures are online and accessible to anyone at schooldocs.co.nz Username: Hampsteadschool Password: welcome Our policies are all on a three yearly review cycle so each term our board reviews 5-6 of these. We welcome any feedback on our policies and procedures.

Thank you Advance Ashburton: We are very grateful to Advance Ashburton for funding our music lessons with Mrs Walker. We are extremely grateful that this year they have approved a $3000 grant that will cover all of Therapy dog Tahi's expenses that includes dog food, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and even his toys. Tahi has already made such a positive impact in our school. We are very grateful to have the support of Advance Ashburton and Mobility Dogs NZ.

Student of the Week: Zak (Rm 8) is always a hardworking and caring member of Ruma Waru and always tries his very best in all that he does. He has a positive attitude towards all of his learning. He listens carefully to instructions, follows these with independence and quietly settles into the tasks set for him. Zak likes to take care with the presentation of his work. He is a pleasure to have in our class and  is a really great role model for everyone else. We are so lucky to have you in Ruma Waru Zak. Keep up the awesome mahi! Kalo (Rm 15) is an absolute rockstar! His positivity and smile is contagious and his hard work and determination is inspiring. Kalo never gives up, even when things get tough, and that's something to be really proud of.  He is a wonderful friend, who can always be depended on, he genuinely cares about others. Kalo is a delight to teach - Room 15 is so lucky! Keep being your awesome self and never lose your amazing attitude in class and at Hampstead School.
